Sailing Programme 2026 summaryThe Club has put together an exciting sailing and training programme for 2026. There will be two Summer Cruises - one from UK to South Brittany; and a second to the South West Coast & Isles of Scilly. There are 15 training events - including Boat Handling, Radar, Navigation and Pilotage as well as RYA Training (Comp Crew, Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper) and RYA/MCA YachtmasterTM Preparation week. These activities are only available to PYC Members (not Introductory Members). At all other times the boats are available to be booked for ad-hoc cruises and mentoring by Club Skippers and Members. Other trips are already planned to Northern France and the Channel Islands. |
Summer Cruise 1 - Brittany CoastThe Brittany cruise plan in Relax delivery from UK via Channel Islands and Normandy to Brittany. There are stopovers in St Helier, Brest, Lorient and Pornichet. Once in Brittany there is plenty to explore.
Adjacent skippers can agree to change over at alternative ports which are also available. All the crew changes are at 18:00 hours on the Saturday unless agreed by skippers. Summer Cruise 2 - South West & Isles of ScillyThe second 2026 Summer Cruise is being planned in Quartette to the South West and Isles of Scilly, leaving Gosport on 23rd July 2026 and returning on 6th September 2026. More details to follow. All the crew changes are at 18:00 hours on the Saturday unless agreed by skippers. Training & Skill Development ProgrammePYC is an RYA Training Centre and as a sea school we are able to provide the following practical courses to our all members: Competent Crew and Day Skipper. We also run Advanced Skipper Training and Development for our Club Skippers: Coastal Skipper and Preparatory courses for the RYA/MCA YachtmasterTM Exam (to book onto these skipper courses, you must be a PYC Club Skipper). In addition, we provide a number of our own courses covering areas such as: Boat Handling, Radar, Navigation and Pilotage Training. Also the Trainers, and experienced Club Skipper provide informal coaching to other members. Courses being offered in 2026 are as follows:-
